The vestibular system, located in your inner ear, helps our bodies maintain balance and stability during movement. When this system is compromised, you may experience symptoms like dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, and nausea.
An important tool in vestibular physiotherapy is the use of infrared video goggles. These goggles allow therapists to closely observe your eye movements, which are crucial for diagnosing and understanding vestibular disorders. By recording eye movements in response to specific tests, such as head motion or positional changes, therapists can accurately assess the function of your vestibular system.
Vestibular physiotherapy aims to alleviate these symptoms through a tailored program of exercises that retrain the brain to compensate for the inner ear's dysfunction. These exercises may include gaze stabilization, balance training, and habituation exercises that help reduce sensitivity to motion. By improving balance, coordination, and overall mobility, vestibular physiotherapy can significantly enhance the quality of life for those affected by vestibular disorders.
At Healing Vertigo, we work with you one to one to create your customized exercise-based program, developed from our clinical assessment together. We use a hybrid model of care, providing both in-person and virtual sessions. Virtual sessions are through a secure service which is HIPPA PIPEDA, and PHIPA compliant, ensuring your data remains private and safe.
Available for Ontario Residents Only
With virtual physiotherapy, steps have been taken to transition all aspects of our in-person physiotherapy assessment and treatment into the virtual platform, with zero compromise in the quality and effectiveness you will receive as a patient. We have partnered with Jane to provide you a safe and secure telehealth experience, which is HIPAA, PIPEDA, and PHIPA compliant, so you know your data remains private at all times. Jane has also maximized the patient-practitioner experience, with online scheduling, virtual exercise tracking, and easy payments which can all be done from your device or laptop.
